Sage’s surreal self-portraits read like visual diary entries, documenting the day to day struggles and celebrations of young adulthood. The events leading to each photograph are unclear. Instead, the reality is abstracted. In this series, a personal narrative is crafted, not from a linear progression of facts, but from lingering impressions and emotions that take center stage in memory. Sage started taking self-portraits in 2017 when she was 22 years old and continues the series today.
